Low Key
How many lights?Low key lighting uses 1 light.
Where are they positioned?Could be on the left or right side of the body. This creates the effect of a shadowed side and the other half has light shined upon.
Level 3 - How does this lighting effect create atmosphere?This type of lighting gives the impression of a depressed atmosphere. As if the person is reminiscing.
Level 2 - Where would you be likely to see this lighting effect being used?This lighting would initially be shown in genres such as horror or thrillers to show off the antagonist or the protagonist.
What health and safety points did you need to remember when arranging this lighting set up? Ensure to say ‘striking’ before switching the light on as this can blind them. Also, making sure that the lights are not to close to the person so they do not get burnt.

Level 3 - How does this lighting effect create atmosphere?This type of lighting creates a tense and scary atmosphere. This is because this lighting emphasises the facial features and creates shadowing on the face which creates a spooky look.
Level 2 - Where would you be likely to see this lighting effect being used?Could be in horror movies, documentaries, action movies etc.
What health and safety points did you need to remember when arranging this lighting set up? Ensuring the person is not blinded by the direct light.

How many lights?One.
Where are they positioned?Directly on top of his head.
Level 3 - How does this lighting effect create atmosphere?This highlights the facial structure and any bold parts of the body.
Level 2 - Where would you be likely to see this lighting effect being used?Music videos, for instance if the background people do not need to be shown and only the main one should be then this is when top lighting can be used, also documentaries.
What health and safety points did you need to remember when arranging this lighting set up? That the lighting is securely placed in it’s position and it doesn’t fall directly on top of his head.

High Key Lighting
How many lights?Roughly about 30+ lights.
Where are they positioned?Around the actors/actresses. Where natural light will hit it.
Level 3 - How does this lighting effect create atmosphere?This type of lighting gives of a happy and cheerful atmosphere. This is in contrast to back lighting, whereby that creates a intimidating effect.
Level 2 - Where would you be likely to see this lighting effect being used?Sitcoms, such as Friends. It will be in places that are shot in a room, such as living rooms etc.
What health and safety points did you need to remember when arranging this lighting set up? Ensuring that all lights are in a safe distance away from the people so they are not overheating and in danger of getting burnt.
