Google recently posted a blog announcing that from 21st April 2015, a new algorithm will be applied, changing the way the mobile-friendliness of a website is determined. According to Zineb Ait Bahajji, of Google’s Webmaster Trends team, their new mobile-friendly algorithm will bring a greater impact on search ranking than either Panda or Penguin, the two biggest and most influential search algorithm updates, ever launched by Google. Although we do not currently know what the updates will entail, from Bahajji’s remarks it appears evident that non-optimised sites could suffer greatly when it comes to ranking and search visibility, with mobile optimised sites, perhaps offered by competitors, outperforming them on Google’s SERPs.
