How big is this update in terms of search rankings? This is apparently going to be bigger than Panda or Penguin updates you may have heard of in the past.
Will it affect my desktop rankings? At the moment (and directly), no. Google are splitting the desktop and mobile results. However, other ranking factors may be affected.
How long will it take Google to detect my new mobile-friendly pages? The next time Google crawls your site and detects the changes. So any changes should be
pretty quick.
Will the update affect my whole domain? No, mobile rankings are at page level. This means if you have some landing pages that ARE mobile friendly, the fact that the rest of your site is not shouldn’t matter, your mobile optimised pages should still rank in the mobile search results. However:
Is there a scale of how mobile friendly my pages are?...

Rather than having a separate mobile website (and having to sort out SEO complications), go for responsive design. It makes your website fit on almost any screen, and it’s Google’s preferred method of “mobile-friendliness”.
FIX YOUR EXISTING THEMES, OR IF MOBILE IS NEW FOR YOU, GO WITH RESPONSIVE DESIGN

No-one is seeing any mobile-based ranking changes just yet.
Although, some big name SEOs have seen desktop fluctuations today. Not sure if this is widespread just yet or localised.
