- Always use a coupon or buy on sale, even a few cents adds up over an entire costume.
- Think outside the box- Can I use something on hand?- Can I use something unexpectedly?- Is there a way to do this cheaper?- Look outside the fabric/craft store- Make it work...
Tips & Tricks
- Join email/text lists to get great coupons- Stalk Clearance- Shop Online (but be aware of shipping)- Start Early! (give yourself time to wait for deals)- Cosplay Swap!
Stick to a Budget
- Set a reasonable goal price before you start- Track all of your expenses- Don’t forget to plan for big ticket items…
(tools, supplies, etc…)- Don’t forget about the small items either...
(thread, needles, glue…)
Where to Shop
- Craft Stores (learn sale cycles, good coupons around holidays…)
- Home Improvement (similar items in larger quantities, and not marked up as “craft”)
- Dollar Store (don’t underestimate what you can find at the dollar store!)

- Walmart (Many have a fabric/craft section with cheap prices!)
- Thrift Shops (think outside the box)- Online (don’t forget to add shipping or give
yourself plenty of lead time…)- Halloween/ Costume stores (shop the day
AFTER Halloween!)
