What is a Fruit Fly?Given the scientific name Drosophila melanogaster,

• Approx. ½ cup apple cider vinegar•A mason jar or similar•A funnel•A piece of overripe fruit

Heat the vinegar and pour it into your jar. Add the overripe fruit and then the funnel to the mouth of the jar. The flies will enter into the jar to feast, but won’t be able to find their way out.

Essential OilsEssential oils won’t kill fruit flies. However, it will repel them. For this essential oil spray, you’ll need:•10 drops (or more) of lemongrass essential oil•A spray bottle•2 ounces of water

In the spray bottle, add 10 drops of lemongrass essential oil to 2 ounces of water. Shake well. Spray in areas where fruit flies are commonly seen. Additionally, if fruit flies are spotted, spray directly on them.
