Introduction1) “The world is giving you answers each day. Learn to
listen.”2) We have 2 ears & only 1 tongue in order that we
may hear more & speak less.3) “Be a good listener. Your ears will never get you in
trouble.”4) “Knowledge speaks. But wisdom listens.”
Definition: Listening is receiving language through the ears. Identifying the sounds of speech & processing them into words & sentences.
Types Of Listening1) Superficial listening (output is zero)2) Appreciative listening (enjoyment, pleasure)3) Focused listening (specific information)4) Evaluative listening (evaluate content of oral message)5) Attentive listening (G.D. , interview)6) Content listening (retain speaker’s message)7) Critical listening (listening to salesman before purchase)8) Empathetic listening (psychiatrists listening to patients)
