In a recent discussion on Fox Business Network, attorney Joe Tacopina said that Google could be legally responsible for leaks of nude videos and photos of celebrities that have been distributed online. “They are an aider and abettor,” Tacopina said in a discussion with Neil Cavuto and lawyer Randy Zelin. He noted that the risqué photos were obtained illegally and said that Google “gave these criminals, if you will, a forum to post these illegal photographs.”

Hundreds of photos and videos, many of well-known actresses, have been leaked. Los Angeles-based lawyer Marty Singer has threatened to sue Google for more than $100 million for what he believes is the company's role in the scandal. In response to Singer’s threat, Google said it removed thousands of photos and closed hundreds of accounts. Zelindisagreed with Singer, saying that Google was not responsible for policing the Internet and that the hackers who stole the photos were at fault.
