Opening Movie Titles Blitz The start of this film shows the main character (Jason Statham) acting in a very violent manner towards two youths who have both obviously been majorly injured by the main character. Jason then proceeds to hit one of the youths in the leg before saying “A word of advice girls, picking the wrong fight, at least pick the right weapon” He then walks off swinging the weapon before resting it on his shoulder. During this part of the opening sequence there is a quiet techno track playing, the music then builds up volume and starts to play the main part of the track whilst the titles play. The obvious theme of violence directly at the start of the film conveys how the rest of the film will be quite focused on violence and crime. During the opening credits there are also various newspaper clippings that indicate the fact that the main character was a sergeant in the police force and was punished for his actions against the young teenagers. The music also illustrates the image that the film will be a high-octane kind of picture. Hot Fuzz The titles to Hot Fuzz show the main character Chris Angel (portrayed by Simon Pegg) walking up to the camera and showing his badge, the voice over on the clip then begins to list all of his achievements within his education and his police work. The titles are narrated in a serious manner however due to the music in the background being quite a cheerful and upbeat tune, this takes the serious element out of it. A well as the music the clip ends with the narrator speaking over a clip of Simon Pegg being stabbed in the hand by a man dressed as father Christmas. Once you reach the end of the clip it is apparent that the film will be a comedy due to the unusual circumstances of the main characters wounding and the upbeat and cheery music that plays along-side it. Lord of War

The opening of lord of war starts with Nicolas cage standing in a former war zone. The bullets lying on the ground around him indicate this. The sequence then jumps to a bullet-manufacturing factory in which the camera is in a position so that it is inside the bullet. The bullet is packed into boxes and crates before being shipped to an arms dealer who then sells it on. The bullet is loaded into a gun and fired into a child’s head. This is a very effective opening as it shows how selling guns and bullets causes death. By this opening sequence you can tell the film will involve violence and conflict.
