Audio track

Having an audio track is one of the most important parts of making a music video, without an audio

track there would be no need to make the music video. The audio track we have chosen is by Chris

Brown, featuring Section Boys and Quavo (Migos). Chris Brown is part of Sony, we had to choose

an artist part of Sony so we decided that this would be the best artist for our group. Individually we

chose different artists from different genres, we then put our list of ideas together and decided

together which artist would be best. We chose Chris Brown in particular because he has produced

many different types of songs so it gave us a variety to pick from. The song we chose is called

‘Whippin’, the song has a fast pace and it also has a catchy chorus. The beat doesn't stay the

same throughout the whole song, it bounces between fast and slow. We also chose this song

because it doesn't have Chris Brown in the whole song, other people are in the song with their own

verses, this will make our music video more interesting.

Source of financeThroughout the filming of the video we would need a lot of things that we will not be given. The

travel money to get to the destinations of where we want to film, clothing and makeup are all

things that will not be given to us. Therefore we all have to pay for our own transport, props,

costumes, makeup etc.… we will top up money on our oyster/zip cards enough for us to get to

our destinations. Everyone in the group would have to put in money to afford everything we would

need to film. For the costumes and props we would have to look them online sites ( amazon,

gumtree and eBay.) However we will all list the items that we brought, we will include the name of

the product, the cost of the product and where it was bought from. The total money we would

need to contribute is around 15 to 20 pounds, we do not need to contribute any more than this

because the props etc. can be kept minimalistic for our video, This money will be coming from our

own pockets as we will not be given any money from the school to purchase these things. Some

members of our group have part time jobs, therefore this will be our source of finance. During our

time of filming we would need to stick to this budget, making sure that we do not overspend but at

the same time making sure we have everything we need in order to create a successful music

video.

Resources

Photo cameras will be an important and essential tool during our music production and

before the filming. Photo cameras will help us take pictures of locations, we can use it to

make a photo story board which means all the photos taken in the process and put it in one

shot. We can take pictures while other members are taking other pictures so we can double

the progress and then have more time to edit and to focus on the main thing which is

creating the music video. Every single member of our group has a smartphone so camera

and pictures will be taken easily this means we don't necessarily need to use the school

cameras provided, therefore we can take pictures of locations and many camera

angles. However the use of a photo cameras and smartphones can give an experience on

how to film and get you ready to film when it comes to the music video.

Resources

Video cameras are needed when filming for the music video, it’s the only way to film any

video, so this makes the only unique way to film a video. After all the crew have filmed and

recorded everything. We would all download it into one computer and put them together so it

looks professional. The video camera is light and it can be carried easily so there won’t be

any trouble when filming. The camera that we are using it’s called HCV750 CAMCORDER,

this camera is HD meaning that the quality of the video will have an outstanding quality and

clear to the eye. This resource has been given to us and it’s a really perfect and great choice

which will make our work and presentation look professional for the viewers. Our editing

source will be Final Cut Pro many professional editors use it, Final Cut Pro is a really good

media editing site, it makes your work look smoothly good and it’s really easy to use.

Contributors

The contributors of the music video that we are making are the cast and crew. The people

involved are Ben, Joey, Adam and Hannah. The cast are the people in front of the camera

and the crew are the people behind the camera who will be controlling the filming etc. The

contributors will also be involved in the editing process. This will be after filming and will

have the group on the computers editing sections of the video. Everyone in the group will be

taking part in the editing process and will also all have to take part in the filming process.

The crew will be making sure that everything is done on time, the crew consists of the

director of the video, the people controlling the camera ( the cameraman), continuity

managers, people moving the tripods.

British board of film classification

VEVO and YouTube have both agreed to work with BBFC in order to rate age music videos,

artists have signed with Sony music UK, Warner Music Uk and Universal Music UK that it is

not suitable for young children to watch any contents over the age of 18. Age restrictions will

appear in in YouTube and VEVO online. The main purpose of this is to warn viewers what

they are going to be watching, so they know the content and stuff that will appear on the

video. The BBFC consists in two main principles which are to protect children from seeing

inappropriate and harmful content and to make informed viewing decisions. BBFC will divide

music videos by including inappropriate language, dangerous behaviour / violent content,

any drug misuse and sexual content.

Copyright, designs and patents act 1988

The copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, is the current UK copyright law. It gives the

creators of liberary, dramatic, musical and artistic works the right to control the ways i which

their material may be used. The rights cover broadcast and public performances, copying,

adapting, issuing, renting and lending copies to the public. In many cases, the creator will

also have the right to be identified as the author and to object to distortions of his work.

Copyright arises when an individual or organisation creates a work, and applies to a work if it

is regarded as original, and exhibits a degree of labour, skill or judgement. Interpretation is

related to the independent creation rather than the idea behind the creation. For example,

your idea for a book would not itself be protected, but the actual content of a book you write

would be. In other words, someone else is still entitled to write their own book around the

same idea, provided they do not directly copy yours to do so.

Locations

Having locations for the music video is a very important part of filming. Our group have put

together a list of different locations we can go to film. The first location on our list is London,

we have decided to go around different spots in London because in the song London is

mentioned by one of the artists, we also chose this location because London is a very

popular area, and because there are many people there it will make the video more

interesting. The audio has a fast pace and a slow pace so having the fast pace parts in the

busy streets of London, we will have the slow pace parts in a more quiet area. Another

location we have chosen is King Solomon High school. We have chosen this as a location

because it's an easy option, we have been given the equipment from the school so we have

decided to film parts of the video in this place.

Editing software

After filming our music video, we will need to edit it in order for it to be a completed video.

This means we will need to edit is. We edit the music video by downloading it from the

cameras and on to the mac computers. There is a specific editing app for us to use, this is

called final cut pro. This editing app puts the video together, it does this by cutting out certain

parts of the video we may not need. This app also pieces together different parts of the

video and different scenes to put it all as one clip. finish filming the music video and we have

all the footage we will be using Final Cut Pro to edit it all together. Using this app also allows

us to put the video in time to the music, we have to edit this in because when filming the

song will not automatically be there, we have to put this in. When filming we will be playing

the song for the cast and crew to hear using one of our own speakers. This app is easy to

use and will allow us to have a smooth video in perfect timing to our song choice.

Page 12: Task 5, Units 1, 16, 29

Desktop publishing software

Throughout the filming of the video we will be using many varieties of software to complete

the task successfully. In many occasions we would have to use Microsoft word in order to

put the steps we will be labelling the project and to save our work. We would PowerPoint as

well to make storyboards and in order to present our work to slide share is has to be in a

PowerPoint so it looks better. We will use Photoshop in order to create our production logo

company. The main reason we will need to use all this different software it to label

everything correctly so when it comes to the presentation time it will look professional ad

smart.

Time

Many important things in making a music video is time, time is our enemy, we will need to

complete our tasks in time, if any deadline is missed you will be behind and have to work

extra hours in order to catch up with the work, we will need to space time evenly in order to

finish everything in time, when our crew members need to link up it’s needs to be on time

otherwise it could be too late and then we will have to leave to another day and then time will

be wasted. Every part of the production should have it’s own time which means that we can’t

put a lot of time in one part but miss a lot of time in another time so we will have to use time

evenly and efficiently in order to finish everything in time. One of the most important things

during making a music video is time.
