Question 3What kind of Media institution might distribute

your media product and why?

When choosing a media institution to distribute my Magazine, there are two different routes to take. Either choose a media institution that has no other magazines like mine to distribute the magazine, known as finding a gap in the market, or choose an institution that has experience in magazines like mine so know the best ways to get it out to the public. I have decided to try and find one that has experience in magazines similar to mine.

Question 3In my magazine research, I found that Bauer Media distributes Kerrang! Magazine which a similar style of magazine to mine. Kerrang! Is one of the biggest and well known music magazine out there. In my Market research I found out that for Kerrang!:Circulation:33, 024 (Jan- Jun '14)Readership:293,000 (July-Dec '13)Showing that Bauer Media Group are able to get their magazines circulating well, and do specialise in the same genre magazine that my media product is. Bauer Media connects and engages 19 million consumers every week with the most influential brands in the UK.

Question 3The fact that Bauer Media group already have a magazine like mine at first may seem unlikely for them to want to publish my magazine, scare of losing reader from their current magazine from that genre maybe put them off. However choosing a company that already has a magazine of that genre means that they will not actually lose out of readers, for example say Kerrang! Readers begin to read Bzzurkk! Magazine instead, the publisher will not lose out on any money as they will still be getting the money as they publish both magazines. This means there will limit competition as no matter which magazine they pick (Kerrang! or Bzzurkk!) the company will still be making money, with the potential to make more money by having two magazines to draw in readers.

Question 3The downside to choosing a Bauer Media Group is that, because Kerrang! Is already a well established magazine that Bauer may not push the success of my magazine, due to worry that it will push out Kerrang! and leave it unpopular.
