Question 2How does your media product represent

particular social groups?

In my media product the various images I have taken have different meanings and explanations to how they represents the social group linked with my magazine. Some of the representation were done consciously by using the research, and others were subconsciously done.

Question 2The genre of rock is a very white dominated music type so in my magazine all the models I have used are white. However this was not intentional and actually was done subconsciously due to my location (York) which a largely Caucasian populated area. This emphasizes the stereotypical representation that most rock magazines portray.

Question 2The genre of rock especially pop punk rock is known for having dark clothing such as black jeans, black tops, loose shirts etc. which is the look I put onto my models, this is to make the magazine look more authentic and to represent that genre of music more legitimately. This familiar look is one of the main ways that rock musicians are represented (more common in pop punk rock with this particular style), this style avoids a mainstream look and focuses on being unique, common within this social group.

Question 2I would say in my magazine the gender representation is equal. Non or the models in the images have been sexualised in any way at all and there I no sign of appealing to one gender over the other, this is due to the fact that in terms of rock music, the genre is so wide spread that I need to aim at both genders, this will widen my audience. The only image where there may be evidence of inequality is the image on my double page spread where the female artist is being lifted by the male represented power and strength in the male.
