Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) By: Angielica M.Bandillo ICT has also been a driving force for globalization, but it has also divided the world into those who have and who have not, information rich and information poor (Dutton et al., 1996). The “digital divide” is not only dividing people in terms of availability of ICT but also in terms of availability of education and wealth. Technology can be seen merely as a social product rather than a technology which is separate from society. Each step on the way to developing new technologies is connected to social, economic, political factors, - Williams, 1997 How does ICT in Education Initiatives Contribute to the Millennium Development Goals ? Increasing access through distance learning. -Provide new and innovative means to bring educational opportunities to great number of people of all ages. Enabling a knowledge network for students. timely transmission of information and knowledge . Training Teachers Help in meeting teacher training targets. Broadening the availability of quality education materials. Interactivity and global reach allow for customized sharing of knowledge, materials, and databases quickly and cheaply over long geographic distance. Enhancing the efficiency and effectiveness of educational administration and policy. Improve the quality of administrative activities and process including human resource management, student registration and monitoring student enrolment and achievement. Thank you 
