Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation
What Is Physical and Occupational Rehabilitation?
Whether you suffered an injury while working or playing sports, physical or occupational
rehabilitation is essential in helping you recover. In fact, with proper physical therapy and
rehabilitation, most people can return to their lives more quickly.
Physical therapists help people restore movement, strength and functional abilities. They also help
manage pain that results from aging, illness or an injury, such as a torn ligament in the knee, to
maximize a person’s quality of life. A physical therapist will develop a personalized plan and work
with the individual to modify it as needed.
Likewise, an occupational therapist develops a custom plan to increase a person’s independence in
day-to-day activities. Like PTs, they work to improve a person’s ability to function and use
adaptation equipment, such as wheelchairs or walkers.
