- Each year, 500,000
Americans die of heart
disease, and
approximately half of
them are women.
- At the age of 45, a
man’s risk of heart
disease and a woman
increases the risk in the
age of 55.
Many of us feel that heart disease is a problem that happens to other folks.
Wrong on all counts. In the United States, heart disease is the no.1 killer of
both women and men. It affects many people at midlife, as well as in old age.
It also can happen to those who “feel fine.” Consider these facts:
Warm up and cool
down periods of 5-10
minutes including
stretching and flexibility
exercises should
precede and follow 20-
40 minutes of aerobic
or cardiovascular
exercise (sustained or
continuous exercise
using large muscle
groups).
If you have had a recent stress test, your health care provider may use the test
to provide you with a Target Heart Rate (THR) or MET level. Your heart rate
should increase as each workload increases on the stress test. A MET is a
measure of work level. One MET is the amount of energy your body uses at
rest. Any exercise or activity level can be described in METS.
One should be aware that
the high systolic blood
pressure level is
dangerous. In case your
systolic blood pressure is
140 mmHg or higher than
this may lead to
cardiovascular and also
kidney disease. It may so
happen that if you really
take good care of your
eating habits.
A simple, painless test using an inflatable arm cuff. Hypertension or
hypotension both are harmful to us; Both are risk factors that may lead to
heart disease. One should do exercise to maintain the good heart health.
A family history of heart
disease is one of those risk
factors that you cannot
control. However, most people
with a family history of heart
disease also have other risk
factors and at least then you
can do something about your
heart disease or its problems.
It is especially important for
you to talk with your health
care provider and make him
aware of the risk factors you
can reduce through lifestyle
changes if a relative has had
a heart attack at an early age:
before age 65 for a woman or
before age 55 for a man,
As part of your
cholesterol-
lowering
treatment plan,
your doctor may
recommend
medication. You
may be
prescribed just
one cholesterol-
lowering drug, or
two in
combination.
DASH: this stands for (Dietary
Approaches to Stop
Hypertension). This plan
emphasizes vegetables, fruits,
other grains or foods, and low-
fatty diet and fat-free milk and
milk mades. It is rich in
potassium, magnesium and
calcium, as well as fiber and
protein. It is low in saturated
and total fat and cholesterol,
and limits red meat, sweets,
and beverages with added
sugars. This practice will help
you to have a control in your
blood pressure level and the
other diseases that rises
because of high or a low blood
pressure.
These instructions are only for the sake of your life. If you does not care its
fine and if you care then care for the entire life and with full dedication. This
practice can help you to live a healthy life throughout.
