AOD Use and Emotional Development

When youngsters use liquor and/or other medication to avoid adverse emotions, they are learning to evade emotions of stress and anxiety.

As grownups, they are not able to learn how to deal with these adverse feeling and become psychologically “stuck.”

For example, someone who begins to misuse AOD at 16 years-old will become adults to have a 16-year old psychological expertise set.
