VA Aid & Attendance Benefit

Long-term care benefit to reimburse care expenses for veterans who served during a wartime, and for their surviving spouses.

Qualifications:

1. Military2. Medical3. Income4. Asset

Military:

1) 90 days of active duty service

2) 1 day during a war period• Did not need to be “In Theater”

• Could have been stateside

3) Honorable Discharge:• General

• Medical

War Periods:

• World War II: 12/07/1941 - 12/31/1946

• Korean Conflict: 06/27/1950 - 01/31/1955

• Vietnam Era: 02/28/1961 - 05/07/1975

* 02/28/1961 – 08/05/1964 for veterans who served “in country”

Need to be in a protected environment:

• Home Care

• Assisted Living

• Nursing Home

• Adult Day Care

• Independent Living
