Bleed on the Brain: Subarachnoid haemorrhage

flickr.com/photos/photowolf/4996673949

My world almost ended

Its mainly congenital - you're born with it

Can also be a consequence of ageing or high blood pressure

Excess stress can result in a subarachnoid haemorrhage or stroke

People of african origin are at increased risk, like high blood pressure

My world almost ended very badly

Typically, the person collapses with a sudden headache unlike any they've experienced before. They may vomit, develop signs of meningitis, such as neck stiffness and dislike of light, and may rapidly become drowsy, confused and unconscious

Haemorrhage's in young adults can often be fatal, 30 per cent die within hours, a further 30 per cent die within the first month or result in serious disability

What happened?

Ian had been feeling very unwell, and his flatmate and his boss convinced him to go to the hospital to get checked out. We were called on Monday 17th May and told Ian was in hospital. Originally they suspected meningitis. However, all we know at the moment is that he had a bleed on his brain. He had surgery that day to put a drain in and has been heavily sedated in the ICU at Salford Royal

Thank you very much for taking the time to find out how I amdoing. I am doing okay. I am still in hospital, but making a positive recovery.

Thank you to everybody who has written to me and my family and thanks for writing such amazing things. The trach tube is out and I can speak again.

The feeding tube is also out. I had solid food for the first time yesterday--it was horrible! Of course it was hospital food.Thank you for all the messages to my family. I'm on the way to recovery

Steve Jobs

"Death is the destination we all share, no one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be because death is very likely the single best invention of life (...) Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life"

How many lives have I inspired?

What is the purpose of life...?

...Inspire others

...hopefully I've done that today

Thank you for listening to my story
