The searches are (generally) two concept searches with time limits:

Import Records tab

Locate file; select filter

Process import; check

mappings

File names: each file is named: [Year]_[Month]_[source]_[hits]These are individual batches within the CRS

Note:Previously excluded records don’t get reimported. This is proving to work well. Approximately 100 records are not re-imported

Question:Should I create study records as I bring the records in? No (at the moment I don’t do that)

De-dupe

De-duplication needs to happen against the imported files (database content overlap) and against the whole segment.

ready for screening

Usually down to about 1000 records by now

ScreenWant to Exclude all records that are not about RCT/CCT

Batch is selected; Screen in Browse screen; Records marked for CENTRAL; Records marked as Handsearch if they are RCT/CCT outside of my group’s scope

Screen

The batch has shrunk from around 1000 records to approximately 100. Most of the 900 have been Excluded; some have been submitted as Handsearch. The 100 left are published to CENTRAL

Step 1: CRS studification tab – 10 records at a time, run studification

Settings: Default2 records have come back with ‘Success At Textual Analysis’

Studify

‘Success At Textual Analysis’Sometimes it gets it right, sometimes it gets it wrong

And sometimes it doesn’t suggest an already existing study. It’ll be an exciting part of the CRS to develop further and useful to collect performance data now

Studify

100 records

80 new studies

This is the maximum number. As we code them up, we find that actually that study did already exist – it just wasn’t suggested as a candidate by the CRS

80 new study records. They need some meta-data (coding-up) so the next step is to get the full texts, attach them to the Reference Type record and to the Study record

Studify

Open the pdf and ‘code’

Another webinar looked at the meta-data used

Studify: why do it?

Portfolio of around 120 reviews in the Dementia group

I could run and re-run 120 bespoke intervention based searches AS WELL AS having to run searches for CENTRAL

OR

I could run one, very sensitive search, once per month, across multiple databases which feeds all the existing reviews (with v high sensitivity and specificity), helps to suggest gaps, AND feeds CENTRAL

Any questions?
