The International SPA Association Foundation is the foundation of the International SPA Association and was created in 1999 to serve the educational and research needs of the spa industry.

The ISPA Foundation's mission is to improve and enhance the value of the spa experience;

Its vision is to advance spa culture to sustain health and well-being.

Purpose The purpose of the ISPA Foundation is: To promote the public welfare through the advancement of physical fitness,

medical and wellness care, and professional spa services; To encourage, provide for, and engage in professional study and research

related to lifestyle and health enhancement from physical fitness, dietary practices, spa services, and educational programs and scholarship programs;

To improve the quality and increase the availability of professional spa services, medical and wellness care, conventional and complementary therapies and treatments, and related educational programs.

Objectives

Establish the Foundation as the educational source for the spa industry.

Establish definitive research validating spa industry-related topics.

Create an endowment that sustains the Foundation in perpetuity.

The ISPA Foundation works to extend and promote a healing touch to communities around the world using new and innovative methods. By supporting and funding forward-thinking individuals and organizations, the foundation establishes new initiatives that will enhance health and wellness.

ISPA MEMBERSHIP TYPES

SPA MEMBERSHIP TYPES The rates below represent an ISPA Membership valid through June 30,

2018. SPA MEMBERSHIP | U.S. $659

Benefits are extended to one primary member. SPA PREMIERE MEMBERSHIP | U.S. $910

Benefits are extended to one primary member and up to 10 auxiliary* members. As an additional benefit, the primary member will receive the ISPA Reveal Box three times a year.

SPA PREMIERE PLUS MEMBERSHIP | U.S. $1,145Benefits are extended to one primary member and up to 20 auxiliary* members. As an additional benefit, the primary member will receive the ISPA Reveal Box three times a year.

CORPORATE SPA HEADQUARTERS MEMBERSHIP | U.S. $659Spa headquarters with more than three spa properties qualify for this membership category. The actual headquarters is not required to have a spa on-site. All headquarters members can extend a special Corporate Link Membership (25 percent discounted rate) to their spa properties. This membership type does not automatically include all spa properties as members, only the headquarters; however, customized bulk packages are available.

European Spas Association ESPA

ESPA was founded in 1995 in Brussels as an umbrella association for national spa associations in Europe. It is a non-profit and non-governmental association based on Belgian law (A.I.S.B.L.). It has represented the interests of European spas in Brussels, the continent's political nerve centre, ever since.

ESPA MISSION:

Align health resorts within the European healthcare market

More fairness in competition by quality

Promote a clear distinction between health resort therapy and recreational services (wellness)

The European Spas Association is an umbrella industry organisationrepresenting 20 members from 19 European countries. The European Spa Association's global objective is to promote spas and balneology in Europe and to take care that the natural remedies based on mineral water, landscape and climate will be available to as great a number of citizens and visitors as possible.

In order to achieve this the European Spas Association has established the following aims:

to monitor and analyse the condition of the spas and health resorts in the individual EC member countries

to stimulate exchange of experience, best practice and know-how

to produce and develop programmes for health and wellbeing products and strategies for prevention and rehabilitation for all living within Europe

to establish, promote and improve the standards in all spas and health resorts within Europe (bookable offers)

to stimulate and resource spa research

to define and harmonise common training programmes and courses and to determine a professional structure for the European spa business industry

to establish a framework for collaborative marketing opportunities for ESPA member countries

Development of health resorts and spas together with experts

SPA has developed this unique e-Library exclusively dedicated to evidence-based balneology. It aims to disseminate high-quality information towards health professionals and others engaged in basic research and clinical care, public health, health policy development, or related educational activities as well as professionals from the spa industry. Contrary to other databases that return thousands of references, the ESPA e-library is a friendly tool that concentrate only on relevant, valuable and comprehensive information selected by the ESPA scientific experts.

The day spa association was founded in 1988.

The DSA changed its name to the ‘Spa Industry Association’ in 2017

British International Spa Association (BISA)

BISA is the British International Spa Association, a non-profit association set up in 1998 by a group of professionals within the beauty, spa and education fields with a common aim – to promote minimum standards of quality and service within the spa industry, and to improve and promote education for spa therapists

Main objectives of BISA are:

To maintain a sustainable certification and qualification for the spa industry

To act as an educational platform for the public and trade outlets involved in spa services

To work alongside spa centres to advise and source hardware and consumables

To raise the standard of spa treatments, spa therapy and spa management qualification

To provide a platform of qualified professionals to members and industry

To have a grading system for spa outlets

The Confederation of International Beauty Therapy & Cosmetology CIBTAC

Established in 1977 as the education arm of BABTAC (British Association ofBeauty Therapy & Cosmetology), it is a not-for-profit organisation,

is an international examination institution that cares about the quality oftraining in the field of beauty, as well as complementary and sport therapy.
