CBCI-CARD RNTCP Project, Rajasthan
World TB Day 24th
March 2011 -Report on Activities in Rajasthan
A number of activities were organized/
facilitated in the month of March 2011 on
the occasion of the World TB Day (24th
March) under the CBCI CARD RNTCP
Project, in collaboration with the State
Programme Committee (TB), Rajasthan &
District Health Societies, Jaipur, Kota,
Udaipur & Ajmer. Following is the
district-wise report on these activities.
Activities in Ajmer
1) On 23rd March RCDSS, Ajmer & Asha Niketan,
Kana-kheri, in collaboration with DTC Ajmer organized a workshop to sensitise associated PLWAs and NGOs regarding the threat & management of TB-HIV co-infection
2) On the morning of 24th March, the community health department at St. Francis Hospital organized a gathering of about 100 people & disseminated information about spread control, prevention and treatment of tuberculosis The detail about the DMC and DOTS program were explained to them This was followed by a short discussion and interaction with the participants to clear their doubts IEC material was displayed for their perusal.
Activities in Kota
3) STPC Rajasthan and CHFs in Kota &
participated in the WTB day function
organized by DTC Kota.
4) Sr Suneela of Abdul Waheed Hospital &
Sr Leena of Holy family hospital were
felicitated for their contribution to
RNTCP
5) A sensitization session was organized on
TB-HIV co-infection for CHFs and for
PLWAs associated with Jeevandhara
CCC-a CHF.
6) Dr Neerja Arora also faciltated and made
a presentation during the CME organised
for Medical Officers by DTO Kota
Activities in Udaipur
Several activities were done on in Udaipur
under the leadership of Sr Kirti, of the
Kiran Domestic Workers’ Welfare Trust.
7) On 23rd
March a Sensitisation Session was
held for the staff & students of V S
Shiksha Bhawan, followed by Essay
writing & Painting competitions.
8) On the morning of 24th
March, a rally of
about 80 NCC students of St Paul’s
School was flagged off by the principal,
Fr Remigius. The rally covered the areas
of Bhopalpura, Court Choraha, Delhi
Gate etc to reach TB clinic at Hathipol,
where the participants joined the District
level function organized by DTC
Udaipur. The winners of the School
Competition were also facilitated there.
9) In the evening of 24th
March, another rally
of women & children was flagged off by
Dr Dinesh Kothari, DTO-Udaipur & Fr
Remigius. The rallyists carried banners &
placards to create awareness and traversed
the areas of Azad Nagar, Rampura, 80 feet
road etc
State-level felicitation of CHFs at Jaipur
10) Sr Vineeta of Asha Niketan Kanakheri, a
hospice for PLWA and Sr Chitra of
Mother Teresa Ashram were felicitated
during the State-level function organised
in the presence of Dr Rajkumar- Minister
for Health (State), Principal Health
Secretary Mr B L Sharma, Dr N K Jain,
Cahairperson STF, Rajasthan, Dr K N
Gupta, STO Rajasthan and other
dignitaries.
