How to discourage teenage drug use.

Drugs are everywhere…

Statistics

22.6 million Americans are addicted to drugs.

14 ½ was the average age for teens to try illegal drugs.

One in five 8th graders have tried an illicit drug.

Only 25% of parents think their children have tried marijuana when 37% of teens have tried marijuana.

Prevention

Kids who are educated about the risks of drugs are 50% less likely to use drugs.

Parents are the greatest asset in the prevention of drug use.

Parents can go to TimetoTalk.org for information on how to talk to kids about drug prevention.

Contact your local D.A.R.E. chapter.

What can you do?

Watch out for signs of abuse. Monitor your drugs at home. More and

more teens are experimenting with prescription medication.

Be a good role model. Kids take notice on what you do.

Talk to your kids about drugs. Inform them about the risks.
