How Can Life Works help me?Our Integrated Treatment approach to Behavioural Health problems is based on global evidence-based best practice adapted to a European context and our own professional experience of what is effective.

Our Clients receive:• Careful pre-admission screening for

suitability for treatment at Life Works• Comprehensive medical,

psychiatric and psychological assessments on arrival

• Medical detoxification where required for physical and psychological stabilisation

• Intensive Group psychotherapy using a wide range of therapies

• Family Work• Trauma stabilisation• Nutritional support• Psycho-educational lectures

and workshops• Relapse prevention and • Aftercare planning

To ensure the effectiveness of our approach to treatment, Lifeworks’ Clinical Advisory Panel is comprised of some of the world’s leading experts who assist us in developing and maintaining our innovative and effective treatment programmes.

Treatment ApproachBehavioural Health issues require an in-depth and sophisticated approach focusing on all aspects of the individual including physical, mental, social and spiritual elements and treating all co-occurring Behavioural Health issues in an integrated way.

At Life Works we are aware of the complexity of individual difficulties and understand that people may be struggling with more than one disorder. Our programme is designed to address every aspect of the individual’s struggle with Behavioural Health issues. We are able to effectively address and

treat co-occurring disorders (such as depression and alcoholism, eating disorders and anxiety, drug and sex addiction) rather than treating them separately or simply ignoring the co-occurring issues. For Substance Addictions and Compulsive Behaviours, the programme is built on the 12 Step Programme, a model of abstinence proven success world-wide.

We believe that this integrated approach vastly increases the chance of sustained recovery. Without this holistic approach the individual is more likely to be at risk of relapse, developing another disorder, or not enjoying a higher quality of life.

Life Works Residential TreatmentLife Works’ Residential Treatment programme is a 4-12 week intensive programme for those with Behavioural Health issues, delivered at our beautiful Georgian Manor house set in the tranquil Surrey countryside. Residential care plays an important role in helping an individual to address their issues. It

removes them from their current situation to a safe haven allowing them to be medically, physically and psychologically stabilised. It is only when an individual is stabilised that therapy can effectively commence and recovery begin.

Life Work’s treatment programmes have been developed and designed by leading international experts. We

adopt a multi-disciplinary approach employing the advanced skills of Psychiatric Consultants, Masters level Psychotherapists, Neurologists, Physicians, Specialist Nurses, Dieticians, Physiotherapists and Complementary Therapists working as a team to ensure comprehensive and individual treatment.

Life Works Mood and Anxiety Disorders Progamme Depression and bipolar disorder are often complex and can have far-reaching and potentially very dangerous consequences for both individuals and their families. As the illness progresses, the individual becomes more and more pre-occupied and increasingly withdrawn from others. Over time, depression disconnects the person from themselves, from others and the community which leads to overwhelming feelings of loneliness and isolation.

Anxiety can have a significant impact on the quality of the individual’s life, affecting interpersonal relationships and limiting the individual’s engagement with the world. Experience has shown us that our Anxiety Programme enables clients to understand the underlying causes of anxiety and provides effective

techniques for management resulting in improvement in all aspects of daily life.

It is important to recognise that depression, bipolar disorder and anxiety are treatable illnesses; the sooner a person seeks help the sooner he or she can get relief and possibly avoid further distress. Depression and Anxiety can frequently present together. At Life Works our intensive programme begins with a detailed psychiatric and medical assessment. The programme focuses on the underlying causes of your depression, bipolar disorder and/or anxiety and teaches new coping strategies to assist with managing the illness. We believe that utilising a combination of treatments including group and individual psychotherapy, CBT counselling and medication vastly increases your chances of sustained recovery and improved quality of life.

Life Works – Compulsive Behaviours ProgrammeAt Life Works we understand the huge impact that Compulsive Disorders can have on an individual’s life and the effect it has on friends and family. At Life Works we treat a range of compulsive disorders including:

• Sex Addiction• Love Addiction• Gambling Addiction• Co-dependency

The aim of the programme is help individuals uncover the origins and underlying causes of their compulsive behaviours, working towards a redefinition of themselves and others whilst learning new strategies for coping. In addition, our team is able to assist in resolving underlying trauma that frequently contribute to the development of compulsive behaviours.

Life Works has created best practise detoxification protocols to ensure that the best medical care and emotional support is given to every individual. We are experienced in alcohol and drug and poly-drug detoxification. Detoxification is managed sensitively and gradually, with a high level of medical support. Throughout the process the individual is monitored around the clock by our medical staff. Individuals

receive a full Medical and Psychiatric assessment with our Consultant Psychiatrist and the opportunity to work in groups and attend lectures during the day if appropriate.

Life Works – Stabilisation and Assessment ProgrammeLife Works 7-14 day Stabilisation and Assessment Programme is a multi- disciplinary, medically-based programme designed to thoroughly assess and, if needed, stabilise the individual. This programme is suitable for individuals who may be unwilling to commit to lengthy treatment or are unsure of their need for treatment. The Programme ensures the individual is thoroughly medically, psychiatrically and psychologically assessed in order to identify the most appropriate treatment options. At the completion of the programme the individual receives recommendations for continuing care derived from a full comprehensive assessment.

Life Works – Family ProgrammeWe value the role of the family in treating behavioural health issues and family therapy forms an integral part of residential treatment at Life Works. Our Family Works Programme is a non-residential programme designed by Life Works to enable participants to establish a mutually supportive family whilst developing the requisite tools for ongoing growth and development. The programme serves to address the trans-generational cycle of dysfunction that affect many families. Staffed by our expert clinicians, families are provided with a safe and nurturing environment to overcome the problems that arise from broken lines of communication. Ensuring the integrity, respect and dignity of all participants are central to our philosophy.
