Step 1: FEELStep 1: FEEL

• We organized an open discussion in our school and our students were free to feel any problem which they see in their surroundings and they want to change it.

• They felt that the most of our community members were suffering some diseases like EYE FLU, FEVER, COUGH and SNEEZING. They also felt that due to lack of awareness about health, hygiene and welfare schemes of Government .

• After a discussion among students they felt that some work is required for social change in their village.

About BAL AKHABR - Satya Bharti School, Rasina provided a platform to their students for expressing their views, feelings, social messages and activities in community through their own news paper called “BAL SUGHAND” . It is prepared and planed by the students of class 5th.

Students decided to run a seven days campaign in the village and tried to bring about some changes in the lives of village people. For that we selected some areas of intervention –

3. Account opening of BPL families in post office

4. Immunization of infants who have missed their schedule.

5. Eye check up camp for village community

6. Disease prevention campaign.

7. Dental check up camp for our school.

Step 3: DOStep 3: DODay 1Day 1

Do……….. Day 2 – Village tour & Role play

• Second day we did door to door visit for spreading awareness regarding our campaign. We presented our news paper to village people and invited them to participate in our upcoming activities.

• For other group of people we organized a role play (skit) in village choupal and spread our message among village people.

• We invited them to join us in the movement of sustainable change in their life.

Do….. Day 3 – Disease prevention with the help of local PHC

In our awareness campaign we found that a lot of villagers were suffering from chronic disease like flu, fever, cough & cold. We did consult with local primary health centre and initiated the treatment of all the patients with local PHC staff.

From our efforts 40 villagers got treated.

Do….. Day 4 – Account opening of BPL families in post Office

• In our village lot of villagers belongs to deployed community. They are very poor and having no savings account any where. We initiated a campaign and motivated them to open a savings account in local post office. As the post master guided, we helped them to collect necessary documents.

• With the joint venture of post master and our students, 11 villagers opened their savings account in the post office.

Do….. Day 5 – Immunization for Infants

• We found that most of the villagers were unaware about the proper schedule if immunization and this could be a problem for infants. So we motivated them to come to local PHC on Thursday.

• Under this campaign 22 infants got proper immunization.

Do….. Day 6 – Dental check up camp in our school

Dental checkup for the students of our school- We approached local doctor for checkup of dental health of our students.

All 180 students of our school got benefited from this check up.

Do….. Day 7 – Free Eye camp for village people

• We organized a free eye check up camp for all the villagers. This camp was organized with the support of local M.P. Mr. Naveen Jindal.

• In this camp, our students handled all kinds of supporting works like registration of patients, helping the doctor and optician.

• In this camp the doctor checked the eyes of 217 patients, gave free spectacles to 101 patients and did free operation of 52 eye patients.
