Buteyko Breathing Technique:A Demonstration
Barb & Michelle demonstrate the Buteyko nose clearing technique. You breathe in, exhale, pinch your nose and nod your head gently.
You can nod your head up and down, or side to side.
It really works! Give it a try.
Michelle is practicing 5 minutes of reduced breathing. The hand under her nose reminds her to keep both the inhale and exhale very light. She sits like she’s riding a horse, which puts her body into alignment so there is plenty of room for air.
Barb is also practicing reduced breathing. It looks like she is meditating, but she is working to breathe very delicately and softly and using her diaphragm while relaxing her body. This takes practice.
After reduced breathing, Michelle is timing her control pause. She inhaled, exhaled, pinched her nose, and is counting how long she can go before she needs to take another breath.
Barb & Michelle are checking their pulse. You can check
your neck or your wrist.
Carol, the Buteyko practitioner, is checking Barb’s pulse
and her blood oxygen level.
Barb’s oxygen level, 96, shows that her blood is unloading the
oxygen from her hemoglobin into her tissues.
