• Spread across 3 Talukas namely Shahapur, Shorapur and Yadgir.
• Yadgir is the district headquarter, 530 Km away from Bangalore.

Jowar, paddy, Red Gram, Sunflower, Groundnut are the major crops grown in the district.
Major commercial crops grown in the district are cotton and sugarcane.
Net sown area is 87 per cent of the total cultivable land area, which is 13821.94 square kilometers.
Shahapur and Shorapur both Taluka have been fully irrigated. Yadagiri Taluka having 65% irrigated area
Cattle, Poultry, Sheep, Goats and Buffaloes constitute the major livestock of the district
Vast stretch of fertile black cotton soil is present in the district

Water River Bhima (origination in Maharashtra)- Main
surface of water supply, accounts for over 90% of the city's water supply.
Water abstraction from Doddahalla, a natural stream, also provides surface water.
The medium irrigation projects in the district are Hattikuni and Soudha ghar.
There are 36 lift irrigation schemes and 445 minor irrigation tanks in the district
The net irrigated area is 14% to the net area sown. Total water supply-22 MLD.
Power Transmission in the district is being done by
Gulbarga Electricity Supply Company Limited (GESCOM)
Kadechur power project is a proposed 1320 MW coal-fired power plant promoted by Atlas Power India at Yadgir district
Hydel power plant under the Chayadevi Hydro Power Scheme – Installed Capacity of 24 MW near Narayanpur in Shorapur Taluk
Average annual consumption in the district - 67.95 Million units domestic consumption and 38 Million units industrial consumption.

TourismMailapur, Mailarlingeshwar Temple: Temple attracts lakhs of devotees every year in “Makara Sankramana” from all over the State.
Sleeping Bhudha:-A self manifested hill seems to give image of the lord Budha as he were in the sleeping posture across the hill; it attracts attention of many devotees of Budhism across the world.
Shorapur Fort:- Nayaks of Shorapur, who ruled with Shorapur as headquarter from 1639 to 1857 have left an indelible mark on the history of the region.
The Fort of Vanadurga:- This fort is 24 km distant from Shahapur has a dense forest around it. As it has been covered by the forest, it got the name ‘Vanadurga’ .
Narayana Pura Dam: Surrounded by verdant greenery and serene atmosphere, the Narayanapura Dam has been constructed over the river Krishna. The beautiful Jaladurga waterfall has become a popular picnic spot with locals and tourists as the waterfall is set amidst lush green vegetation.
