AID-EFFECTIVENESS AND GOVERNMENT DECISION MAKING PROCESSES: APPROACHES TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINABLE WASH SERVICES FOR ALL The Water Institute at UNC, UNICEF, WASH Advocates, and WHO are pleased to announce two complementary sessions that will explore how academia and practitioners can engage with global efforts to improve aid- effectiveness and government decision making processes. The UN-Water Global Analysis and Assessment of Sanitation and Drinking-Water (GLAAS) is a global instrument to monitor the inputs (human resources and finance) and the enabling environment (laws, plans and policies, institutional arrangements, monitoring, and feedback) required to extend and sustain WASH systems and services to all. Targeting Aid More Effectively in the WASH Sector: Putting GLAAS to Work will provide participants with insight into the trends and findings of GLAAS 2014. Through the Sanitation and Water For All (SWA) partnership, developing and donor country governments work in collaboration to prioritize WASH in national agendas. What Makes Governments Decide to Invest in WASH? Lessons from the Sanitation and Water for All Partnership will explore lessons learned from the SWA High Level Meeting commitments and the process of government decision-making around WASH. Although two independent sessions, attending both provides a complete picture of the WASH challenges facing governments. Both sessions will cover global efforts to influence WASH at the national and sub-national levels as well as ideas for future research. 13-14 OCTOBER 2014 Water and Health Conference: Where Science Meets Policy Hosted by: The Water Institute at the University of North Carolina Targeting Aid More Effectively in the WASH Sector: Putting GLAAS to Work (Redbud | Oct. 13 | 1:00 - 4:30pm) Co-convened by WHO and WASH Advocates What Makes Governments Decide to Invest in WASH?
