EDHI DESCRIBED IN 4 POINTS

• Firstly, Edhi Foundation is the largest and most organized social welfare system in Pakistan.

• Secondly, it is a unique example of what ordinary people can achieve through sincerity of purpose, dedication and perseverance.

• Thirdly, Edhi Foundation embodies the spirit of self-help, especially in a society where the notion of self-reliance has not taken root.

• Fourthly, by focusing on alleviation of human sufferings, Edhi Foundation has broken the religious, geographical and racial barriers, thus fostering the notion of welfare for all mankind.

CHALLENGES

Although the problems/challenges faced by such a supported organization are minor, yet every thing has its weaknesses.

• Initially Edhi was subject to a lot of pressure from several quarters on initiating Jhoola service, and although gradually it caught on yet there are people who still consider the idea puerile.

• There are only two blood banks, one at Karachi and the other at Mirpur, have no proper facilities for storing and screening blood.

CHALLENGES (cont.)

• ambulance aircraft’s are yet to be established and this phenomenon is contributing enormously in slowing down the development process

• Refugees Services are only available to a handful of countries, namely Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bahrain etc…

CHALLENGES (cont.)

• Funding Societies are limited to a very small scale and the funding is unable to co-op with rate at which the foundation is developing.

• the foundation needs strict rules that apply to the future heir of the foundation so that it is in safe hands
