How to plant tomatoes?Easy steps for growing tomato plants

1. Move the plant out of the pot

Lets presume that you’ve already grown seedlings (bought or grown from seeds yourself) ready to be moved to your garden.

● Be careful not to hurt the plant.

● It’s easier if the soil is wet, but not soaked.

● Don’t pull it out.

● Turn the pot upside down and tap the back side of it to take out the plant as gently as possible.

2. Clean the stem

● The seedlings have the ability to grow additional roots to their stem. So while planting put big part of it in the ground.

● Cut off the leaves at the bottom of the stem, but keep at least 3 good branches with leaves.

● Use garden scissors of nails for removing the extra leaves.

3. Choose the right spot and make a hole

● Pick a sunny spot in your garden with loose and fertile soil.

● Dig a hole in the ground big enough to put the seedling in it.

● Prepare the plant bed with lots of a good compost.

3. Place the plant in it

● Put the plant in the hole with the first leaves 5 centimeters above the ground.

● Add some egg shells (tomatoes need calcium) and fertilizer next to the roots.

● Mold the hole by making a slope to the roots to provide easy access for rainwater.

● Push the soil around the plant gently (not with legs).

● Place a stick next to the plant.

4. Irrigate the plant

● After the tomatoes are planted in the ground irrigate them with water until the soil gets soaked.

● Wait a few minutes and irrigate again. Don’t worry it’s not going to be too much.

● Try to irrigate just the roots, not the leaves.

● Irrigate every 2-3 days but don’t keep the soil soaked all the time.

5. Wait and enjoy

You should be patient and you will get tasty tomatoes in your home garden soon :)
