Grains cause inflammation and make your blood sugarskyrocket. The most important thing to realize about grains isthat from your body's point of view, these foods are just sugar inanother form—and that includes those whole grains our doctorsprobably tell you to eat all the tiem. Foods you'll eliminated forthe next 3 weeks include: barley breads cereal chips cookiescornstartch and other food starches crackers granola oats pastaquinoa rice rye spelt waffles wheat

Sugar is highly inflammatory, raises your blood sugar levels, and poisonsyour cells. Sugar is actually addictive, so be prepared for sugar cravings, and recognize them for what they are: the siren song of a food that's badfor you in every way. Here are some of sugar's sneaky aliases: agavenectar barley malt syrup cane crystals corn sweetener corny syrupcrystalline fructose dehydrated cane juice dextrin dextrose disaccharideevaporated cane juice fructose fruit juice concentrate galactose glucosehigh-fructose corn syrup invert sugar lactose maltodextrin maltose maltsyrup monosaccharide polysaccharide ribose rice syrup saccharosesorghum sorghum syrup sucrose tracle turbinado sugar xylose

Soy messes with your hormones—particularly your Thyroid hormones.I know you've heard over and over again that soy is a health food. Butin reality, that's one of the biggest lies in history. The soy we eat ishighly processes for the most part, while the soy products in Asiancountries are usually fermented and unprocessed. This fermentationmakes a big difference, because it partially neutralizes the toxin inthe soybean—toxins that you're otherwise getting in full strength. Forthe next 3 weeks, give these foods the boot: hoisin sauce, soy hot dogsand other soy "meats", soy milk, soy sauce, teriyaki sauce, tofu

Dairy. Up to 80% of people are sensitive to dairy, which can harmyour gut and skin. Some people tolerate dairy just fine, while othersdon't. So normally my advice is: Do what works for you. Considerthese 3 weeks as a test. When you're done with your Bone Broth Diet, try adding high-quality, full-fat dairy back in (cautiously) and see ifany symptoms that cleared up during your diet return. If not, adddairy back to your "yes" list. But for now, be ruthless.

Legumes and White Potatoes raise your insulin levels and containchemicals like lectins that hurt your gut. Sweet potatoes, however, are a"yes" food. The primary reason to say no to these foods for the next 3weeks is that they're high in carbs. Another downside of beans is thatthey're hard for our bodies to digest, which is why legumes so oftenleave us feeling worse after we eat them. That said, many people handlelegumes just fine. If you're one of them, they can be a healthy part ofyour maintenance diet after you finish your 3-week diet.

Artificial Sweeteners, flavors, colorings, and preservatives are alien toyour body and weaken your cells. The number of artificial chemicalsadded to our food these days is astonishing: fake colors, fake flavors, fakethickeners, you name it. Unfortunately, the more we learn about theseadditives, the worse they sound They can break down your protective gutbarrier, increase your risk of inflammatory bowel disease, and are evenlinked to obesity and cancer! If you eat foods containing additives, you'rerolling the dice. We don't know that most of these additives do, but we doknow that our bodies aren't designed to handle them because they're notfood. Right now we want to fine-tune your metabolism rather than slow itdown with fake foods if you can't handle it, so cut out these chemical foodsfor the next 3 weeks.

Seed Oils are over-processed, often-rancid oils are too high ininflammatory Omega-6 fatty acids and too low in healing Omega-3s. If youthink seed oils like corn, soybean, sunflower, safflower, and vegetable oilare good for you, think again. Omega-6 fatty acids are pro-inflammatoryand are linked to "aging" diseases like obesity, diabetes, cardiovasculardisease, autoimmune disease, and cancer. Seed oils are heavily processed, and undergo caustic refining, bleaching, and degumming processes, andthe end result is hardly food at all. These are billed as health food butreally belong in a landfill.
