This photo from music photographer Khadija Bhuiyan shows two DJs; Skream and Benga performing live at Ultra Music Festival in 2012. The photo was taken using a wide angle lens which is why you can see so much in the image and helps to capture the buzz of what is happening. The foreground is the main part of the picture; lit up by the artificial lights at the festival giving it an unnatural look as it casts different colours. The image uses depth of field is only in the foreground concentrating on the DJs, the background is not in focus and gives the effect that there is smoke in the air. The smoke also gives the lights a glowing effect, you can see this better with the lights on the left hand side. There is a third person on the stage but it is unclear who it is as the light is creating a silhouette effect, his arms however are visible but they look blue. There is a fish eye effect used on this image as you can see the photo seems to be curved, this is used to bring more attention to the centre of the image as well as making the edges of the image darker. This is a photo by Lewis Hine; a photographer that aimed to publicize the cruelty of child labour in the 1900s. This image shows a young labourer in a sewing factory. The photograph was taken using a plate camera and tripod to keep the camera stable. The camera is positioned at this height to show the height of the young girl as truthfully as possible. The image was developed using monochrome; when the image was produced the only options would have been monochrome or black and white as there were no digital effects or colour

The image was developed using monochrome; when the image was produced the only options would have been monochrome or black and white as there were no digital effects or colour like we have today. The depth of field focuses on the foreground where the girl is which draws attention to her as well as showing detail of the machinery so the audience knows that it is dangerous equipment. This photo is used to represent a piece of history as child labour was a large concern at the time. For the composition of this image Hine has used leading lines with depth of field as the line begins to lose focus once it meets the girl. The lighting in this image is natural sunlight that is coming through the windows on the right of the image; this is to make the image realistic to the lighting inside a factory when children would be working. He lighting works well to show the child’s emotion.
