WHAT WE DO
Developing eco-friendly
computers since 1991.
Designed and manufactured
4 eco-computers to date.
Developed comprehensive
eco-design approach
Developing “cradle to cradle”
services for repair, upgrading
and take back of PCs
Aiming at global reach
- Use low-carbon materials
- Use reused or recycled materials and components
- Design for ease of access, repair, upgrade and disassembly
- Design for ease of manufacture and reuse
- Offer a longer life (e.g. 10 yrs.)
Our main eco-design principles:
MICROPRO XPC (1999)
Extension of operational life of hardware via
upgradable chassis with modular interface
design
Developing the assembly potential of the
design to increase recycling and reuse
Improving energy efficiency of conventional
models
IAMECO V1 (2003)
Module in recycled aluminium and wood
Screen, mouse and keyboard in wood
Upgradable chassis
Designed for reuse
Modular internal port design
Designed to EU Eco-Label
standards
IAMECO V3 (2010)
75% reduction in CO2 emission
75% reduction in fresh water use
98% of materials recyclable (by weight)
Hazardous and non-recyclable materials eliminated
Life extension to 7-10 years
Awarded EU Eco-Label in 2010 –
which was a World’s First for
integrated desktop computers.
4TH MODEL – IAMECO D4R LAPTOP (2014)
Resource efficiency
Life extension
Eco-design
Carbon positive
Minimise life-cycle energy
Up-cycling of by-products
Zero waste (especially polluting waste)
IAMECO TABLET
We are the sole Irish Partner in the sustainablySMART Project, funded under the Horizon 2020 Factories of the Future Programme, to design and manufacture a cutting edge computer tablet, manufactured in Ireland and for sale to the world.
The sustainablySMART Consortium of 18 companies and research agencies, led by the Fraunhofer Institute in Berlin, has been awarded €7 million to achieve its ambitious project goals over a 5 year period

FAIRPHONE, THE NETHERLANDS
Building a phone to create a fairer economy
Fairphone is building a movement for fairer
electronics. By making a phone, we’re
opening up the supply chain and creating
new relationships between people and their
products. We’re making a positive impact
across the value chain in mining, design,
manufacturing and life cycle, while expanding
the market for products that put ethical
values first. Together with our community,
we’re changing the way products are made.
IFIXIT EUROPE
Why repair?
Repair saves you money. It saves the environment. And it connects us to our things. Ditch the throwaway economy. Join the repair revolution.
“There are 5.6 billion adults in the world, and
one day they all should have a cellphone (…) To
make that happen, we’re going to have to make
sure that any phone manufactured today lasts
for 10 years.”

DIGITAL FABRICATION
Setting up of manufacturing facilities, both locally and in partner regions, making use of Digital Fabrication, aiming to begin to bring consumer electronics manufacture back to Ireland and to Europe, with consequent benefits to local jobs and skills and inward investment, as well as multiple environmental benefits.
