An island nation with… the best tidal resource in

Europe and second best worldwide;

a 1,400 year history of tapping this resource;

an abundant supply of the two ingredients needed for tidal energy at scale: shallow water and a large tidal range;

variance in tide times offering the potential for 24 hour generation.

Low carbon electricity: 8% of UK electricity, secured within a decade

Energy security: reliable, home-grown and near continuous power supply from proven technology, lasting 120 years

Affordable energy: lowest generation cost of all electricity for 85 years following investment period. Lower support cost than most low carbon electricity; larger lagoons generate cheaper power

Investment in the economy: £30b + investment programme with at least 65% UK content

A national fleet of 6 tidal lagoons to deliver…

Pre-Application

Construction

Power on

• Site investigation and survey work

• Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

• Design iterations to minimise effects

• Grid, access and construction methods identified

• Consultations to shape the scheme, and its benefits, before it is applied for

• The project cannot change once applied for

• Government Inspectors will consider all evidence

• This includes the opportunity for all stakeholders to submit written representations

The vision:To enhance biodiversity alongside the generation of clean energy by 2030.

Redshank

European Eel

It aims to: Have a net positive effect for nature conservation,

rather than simply avoiding impacts or achieving a neutral outcome.

Address the compensation and ecosystem-scale mitigation requirements TLP anticipate will arise from tidal lagoon development.

Foster innovative and collaborative partnerships to deliver conservation action in the UK, EU and globally.

The EEP will have a strong governance structure to ensure appropriate oversight.
