Policy PoliceVolume II. Number 11.

Up Close and Personalised. Episode 11 . (Epilogue)

Firing Range.

Location: Classified.

Think of it as an extension of your arm.

??

Page 3: Up close and personalised episode 11

It’s prosthetic. Like all

technology.

Prosthetic?

Page 4: Up close and personalised episode 11

Back in the day, if you wanted to kill somebody, you used your

hands…

Page 5: Up close and personalised episode 11

Then comes technology.

You pick up a rock. Much more efficient.

You shape and sharpen the rock. Even more efficient.

Develop a knife, a spear, a bow and arrow, a gun, a bomb, a bigger bomb. All in the name

of efficiency.

Less input, more output.

Less effort, more death. It gives you the edge.

Page 6: Up close and personalised episode 11

But if the other guy has the same edge?

That’s progress. Build a better

bomb.

Page 7: Up close and personalised episode 11

…and the world will beat a path to your

door.

But… There’s a “But”?

Page 8: Up close and personalised episode 11

But when the technology fails.

When you drop the rock, you break

the knife, the gun jams.

You press the red button and nothing happens…

Page 9: Up close and personalised episode 11

…it still helps to know how to kill somebody with your own hands.

This is an extension of

my arm.

You bet.

Like a cyborg. Sooner

than you think.

So.

Page 15: Up close and personalised episode 11

But if somebody else is paying

for the prosthetics…

…is it an extension of my arm, or theirs?

Sometimes we’re just inputs in

somebody else’s game.

Page 16: Up close and personalised episode 11

What if I’m playing my own game at the same time?

We all try. Not many of us

succeed.

Page 17: Up close and personalised episode 11

Elvis did.

For now, in this game.

But the game changes, the

rules change the whole time.

Page 18: Up close and personalised episode 11

So you can’t win.

Nobody wins completely. For all time.

Ever.

Page 19: Up close and personalised episode 11

So what’s the point?

Ride the wave for as long as you

can.

And enjoy it while

it’s there.

Page 20: Up close and personalised episode 11

And if it all comes crashing

down?

Pick yourself up and start

again.The End.
