Target Audience I have done various research about the films on my mood board and then

also thought about the concept of my film and thought about who would like it and why. The decision I have made is that my target audience will be 15-30 years old and mainly a male audience the reasoning behind this is because my trailer may not be all action film but I feel that the drama and the effect that this sporting trailer could have on the audience I gave chosen could be really good. One of these reasons is that the male audience can relate to what my film is about, such as an athlete trying to reach the top of his game and get somewhere in his sport, and also the older audience can relate as this may ne something they may have tried to strive towards when they were younger or can relate to all the hard work that goes into what people strive to achieve. Also I think this is a good idea because there isn’t mass production of sporting films compared to the genre’s of Action and Horror, and I think my target audience looks for more sporting films but struggles to find any and I think this would be another reason my film would become popular amongst the audience I have chosen. I will also be adding a theme of challenging adversity this is really popular and I think if done well it is really gripping and people can really get into what I am trying to put across or portray.

Film Trailer Conventions To make my trailer successful I need to stick to key Film Trailer Conventions such as :

Include key moments from the film which are not placed in the sequence of the film, and do not give away crucial plot details.

The title of the film is not usually on display until the end of the film.

The names of the actors are usually placed early on so that people know who will star in the film, and what to expect from the film. As audiences often decide what a film will be like based on the actors in the film and decide if they even want to watch a film again based on the actors in the film.

Sometimes producers names are included this helps the audience makes connections with the film.

Music is essential as it can suggest the genre, style and plot of the film. Music can be used to bring all the elements of a trailer together.

On screen text gives important information about the film, including the stars, directors/producers, tag line, title and release date.

Many Mainstream films use a powerful voice-over that draws our attention to the key points of a film.

What I am hoping to achieve with my trailer.

I am hoping to create a successful trailer that will grip the audience in many ways after a lot of thought I decided that I will do a sporting film but one that challenges adversity, such as ‘The Blind Side’ this is an excellent film that I have gathered ideas from and will be a big inspiration to my film trailer, The adversity side of my film will be about a inspiring young athlete who has a bright future in athletics but the area he comes from and the gang he hangs around with challenge him from being able to decide what he wants to do with the future. I think this is really good idea because with the plot, music and scenery I think I could make a really good trailer and a really gripping story line. As I think a story line which challenges adversity is something audiences can really relate too and I think this is something audiences like to see, I myself in a sporting film like the plot when the main character has to challenge adversity as I think this makes stories a lot more interesting and there is more to include in the film from this. I am really hoping that the target audience I am aiming at will really like this film and give me some good positive feedback.
