My media product uses the conventions of the artist being the music video. The talent is also lip synching along to the song in the music video. The cuts have been edited quite quickly, just like a music video would be. However, it isn’t at a rapid pace, which people might expect to find with MTV cutting. This is because the song doesn’t have a fast pace. It’s a medium pace so sometimes there is a sequence of fast cuts and then a sequence of slow cuts or no cuts at all. The music video I created is about a girl who feels insecure about herself and others around her are either mean to her or misunderstands her. In the video however, her “conscience”, who appears after the girl has whistled, is trying to tell her that she is perfect. In one scene there is alsoevidence of the girl self-harming herself. The idea of this music video may be unconventional, and in some cases confusing, to viewers. Although there are music videos similar to this today (for example the original video for this song), the general trope for music videos these days is to have the artist either playing their instruments or dancing on a set whilst singing their song. So I suppose that I have challenged the conventions of real music videos in that respect. The main media technologies I used in the construction of my media product included iMovie 09 on the schools iMacs for the editing of the video. I also used my camcorder, a Panasonic SDR-S26, for the filming of the video. During filming, I had to use lighting when natural light wasn’t good enough. I also had to use my iPod touch to play the song so the talent could lip synch to it. Mobile phones were also used so I could get in contact with the talent and to tell her the directions when she got lost. During the research stage, I used the internet for various tasks. I used engines searches, such as Google, to find out information. I also used the internet to find video tutorials on how to use iMovie. For example, I found a video tutorial on how to create a clone in a video, which I then used in my final project. My media product uses the conventions of the artist being the music video. The talent is also lip

synching along to the song in the music video. The cuts have been edited quite quickly, just like a

music video would be. However, it isn’t at a rapid pace, which people might expect to find with MTV

cutting. This is because the song doesn’t have a fast pace. It’s a medium pace so sometimes there is

a sequence of fast cuts and then a sequence of slow cuts or no cuts at all.

The music video I created is about a girl who feels insecure about herself and others around her are

either mean to her or misunderstands her. In the video however, her “conscience”, who appears

after the girl has whistled, is trying to tell her that she is perfect. In one scene there is alsoevidence

of the girl self-harming herself. The idea of this music video may be unconventional, and in some

cases confusing, to viewers. Although there are music videos similar to this today (for example the

original video for this song), the general trope for music videos these days is to have the artist either

playing their instruments or dancing on a set whilst singing their song. So I suppose that I have

challenged the conventions of real music videos in that respect.

The main media technologies I used in the construction of my media product included iMovie 09 on

the schools iMacs for the editing of the video. I also used my camcorder, a Panasonic SDR-S26, for

the filming of the video. During filming, I had to use lighting when natural light wasn’t good enough. I

also had to use my iPod touch to play the song so the talent could lip synch to it. Mobile phones

were also used so I could get in contact with the talent and to tell her the directions when she got

lost.

During the research stage, I used the internet for various tasks. I used engines searches, such as

Google, to find out information. I also used the internet to find video tutorials on how to use iMovie.

For example, I found a video tutorial on how to create a clone in a video, which I then used in my

final project.
