When you “crest” an active owned Castle, A Barb Camp or an unowned wild,
the cards they drop are all the same and randomly generated.
In addition, attacking Dark Forests can also yield cards.
Thus the list of randomly generated Cards is the same for ALL, it is the %
that is different.
The Drop Rates are:
Cresting an active owned Castle. (PvP)
20%
Cresting a Level 8 to 10 Barbarian Camp.
30%
Cresting a Level 5 to 7 Barbarian Camp.
20%? (at least lower than 30%)
Cresting a Level 11 to 15 Barbarian Camp.
40%? (at least higher than 30%)
Cresting an unowned Wild.
40%
Now you can make a better informed decision as what to crest.
Cresting an active owned Castle. (PvP) 20% yield
Surprisingly low percentage of only 20% of dropping cards. Not sure if this
has been done after numerous complaints by players that they were being
crested.
After all, “an active owned Castle” is only active for 30 days unless an owner
logs in within these 30 days, prolonging it with another 30 days or login
daily, in which case its always active.
Many alliances don’t like it when their players “crest” Castles as it clogs up
Alliance reports or leadership receives (numerous) complaints.
However, if you have arrived on a new domain, it is a great source of cards
especially if there are no Towers, Wall & field defenses, and these ‘targets’
can be “crested” very easy with a low amount of troops.
Sometimes, Alliances drop an alt account, and let their lower tier members
hit it for cards, after’ all it does generate cards, and can be done with very
little effort, TR and troops.
Cresting Barbarian Camps.
Cresting a Level 8 to 10 Barbarian Camp.
30% is confirmed, making this an excellent source of generating Cards for
your TR’s.
Cresting a Level 5 to 7 Barbarian Camp.
20%? (at least lower than 30%) If above is 30% then lower than level 8 has to
be lower in percentage as well. Since I have seen only clear percentages, like
20,30,40% it is unlikely that there are percentages like 15,25,35%. Thus for
the moment “classifying” this as 20%.
Cresting a Level 11 to 15 Barbarian Camp.
40%? (at least higher than 30%), the reverse argument of above, it is also
much more difficult to defeat the higher level Barbarian Camps so logically
you should be rewarded for that effort. Since level 15 is the most difficult
level to conquer, it could be even higher %.
Cresting an unowned Wild.
40% yield
This is a high confirmed yield. This is done on the Capture & Release principle and thus
gives you a high % in return for Cards.
What is interesting, there was NO level of wild indicated making therefore all wilds
subject to a high yield.
It is possible for anyone, with a reasonable TR & Troop Count to capture (& release) a
wild for cresting purposes.
Wilds include Plains, Grasslands, Hills, Lakes, Mountains. Players especially overlook
plains, but they are very crestable.
Attacking Dark Forests. There was no % for Dark Forests. They do give however TR & Champ
Cards although Aetherstone is the main reason for attacking Dark
Forests, Cards & other goodies therefore become a byproduct.
In addition, Dark Forests when attacked successfully become Bogs and
can’t be attacked again.
Nevertheless, Cards can be obtained, so hitting regularly all Dark
Forests in a Province is good practice. (Via New PB+ Method)
Strategies You decide with what methods you want to crest. Everybody has a
prefered method for amounts of Troops and Troop Combinations.
My favorite methods for cresting have been detailed in various guides.
It is trivial you get a good Peace Time TR as discussed in th this Tutorial:

For wilds you can easily crest any level with Soulstealers, without loss
to traps.

Also Barbarian Camps you can easily crest ALL Levels with
Soulstealers, without any loss.

Attacking Dark Forests with scouts.

Sharing is knowledge, and a lot of players are not sharing. Yes, it gives you and edge, or advantage, but
it leaves also many people clueless. The objective of these tutorials, is to teach, learn, educate players so ALL players have
a better under understanding of the game. The more players participate, the better the overall experience is for all players.
More attacking and defending means “lively” domains full of activity.
