Inspiration For ‘Lucid’

Lucid’s Formula

+ +

Inception + A Nightmare On Elm Street + 1408 = LUCID

The idea of lucid dreams and

dream sequences

Again, lucid dream sequences, but also crossing

over to the horror genre

The surrealist, enigma element

Characters: Protagonist/Antagonist

Strong, female lead character- Against stereotypes of the

Thriller genreInspired by lead characters

from films such as…

The Silence Of The Lambs

Scream

Lighting

Stills: A Nightmare On Elm Street. Displays perfectly extremely low key lighting:

•Gives an eerie, more mysterious feel to the scene•Gives a sense of vulnerability to character in frame

Camera Angles

Still: 1408

MS is enhanced with lighting

Still: Inception

Slightly tilted angle of the camera gives the shot depth. A different

approach to a CU.

Setting

Still: The Unborn

A corridor/hallway that can use low key lighting. The dream sequence will be based

around this setting

An environment for the character to wake up

abruptly in. Most likely to be a bedroom at this point.

This still from A Nightmare On Elm Street

demonstrates the impact we’re looking for to end the

scene
