In this post I will be talking about how effectively my main product (trailer) and the ancilliary tasks (poster & magazine cover) combine and whether they complement each other nicely.

Firstly the main attraction on my magazine cover is the picture of a handgun being pointed towards one of my actors head and on the gun it says the name of my movie, Reliance and the release date of the movie. So if the target audience was to look at my magazine cover first time round, the first thing they would be attracted to is the main picture and the gun as well because it is a dangerous weapon and this dangerous weapon will get them thinking and excited, so this is the first attraction of my magazine cover. The sub-article in black below the picture is related to the picture and after reading it, they will get more intrigued and stimulated by it because they have a slight idea of who starrs in it and how far the movie has gone in terms of recognition. The actor on the cover of the magazine is another way in which the target audience will be attracted to the trailer and the magazine cover of my trailer because, after recognising the actor on the cover and the material on it such as the gun and the sub-article's they will definitely then research the name of the trailer and look out for any movie names called Reliance. So the material and the actor's on the front cover of my magazine I believe are effective components in terms of complimenting and combining with my trailer. If I was to have irrelevant material on my magazine cover which did not even relate to my trailer or did not represent my trailer in anyway, then my magazine would be a failure in terms of representing, combining and complementing my media trailer, this is because the target audience should have a few sources of getting to know or find out information about my trailer, not just the trailer itself, thus defeating the purpose of having a magazine to represent and advertise my trailer further. The picture on the magazine cover is an image of scene which is evident in the trailer itself, so when the target audience view my trailer and see this scene, they will be able to relate back to the picture on the magazine as well.

This is my final magazine cover for my media trailer. As mentioned above there many ways in which the target audience will be attracted to it. The gun as mentioned above is one way as it is a dangerous weapon. The interesting sub-articles which will also get the target audience attracted as well. The actor himself is an attraction because he is a top actor and well known in Bollywood and so the target audience will definitely carry on reading. Finally, the picture itself is a reenactment of a scene from the trailer and so when the target audience see this they will be able to relate back to the trailer.

I believe my magazine poster is also an effective tool in combining and complementing with my media trailer. The poster's main focus is the image of one of the actresses from my trailer, it is shot of the face, but with half of the face cut off. The image itself is an effective technique as it firstly allows the target audience to identify the actress and then allows them to relate to the actress if possible; this could be through if they have watched other films with her in it or that they are very fond of the actress and like the movies she starrs in. So the image is important, because she is obviously visible in the trailer itself and by appearing on the poster, it allows the target audience to establish a stronger connection with the trailer and the poster because of the actress who is linked to both of the media products they have viewed. Another effective combination is that the names of all the actors/actresses appear on both the poster and media trailer, this is important as well as effective because it is compulsory for both these media products to show the names of actors/actresses. By showing the names in both of the products, it is reasurance to the target audience that it is the same actor/actresses in the film and poster. The poster is mainly consists of the colour black, which represents mystery, secrets and death etc and these themes link and connects perfectly with my trailer because, my trailer is all about mystery and secrets and there are certain parts such as the text statements in my trailer which are all on black backgrounds, which represent the same themes mentioned previously. The face expression of the actress on the poster is also deceiving because she is smiling but at the same, her body language juxtaposes against the smile because she looks suspicious and mysterious. These themes again combine very effectively with my trailer because in my trailer no actor or actress is seen speaking and instead they all look and seem reserved, which signify's danger and secrecy. These themes again link perfectly to the themes given off by the actresses face on the poster. I have also placed a question on the top left hand corner of the poster which says "Innocence or deceit? You decide", this question is another effective technique in combining the poster with the trailer. The trailer is all about secrecy, trust and desire and by posing this question, it addresses and connects with the target audience as it says "you". This will get the target audience thinking and make them feel targeted and involved, this question also links with the themes of the trailer as the words "innocence or deceit" connect with themes such as secrecy, trust and desire. So the poster similar to the magazine cover also combines effectively with the main product which is my media trailer, Reliance.

Below is my final poster and there are many attractions to it as well. The first attraction is the image of the artist as it only shows half of the actresses face and this will mystify the target audience slightly as they will have to identify the actress. The names of all the actors and actresses are attractive as well because they are all well known in Bollywood and the target audience may like certain actors or actresses from the trailer. The poster colour is mainly black which represents darkness and danger and this will automatically get the target audience attracted because they know what it symbolises and will feel inclined to go and watch it. The question used at the top of the page is another attraction because it asks the target audience something which will make them feel that they are targeted and they will naturally be more attracted to it. Finally, the face expression is another attraction because the actress has a sly smile on her face which represents innocence or deceit as stated on the cover itself.

Overall I believe my ancillary tasks which consisted of creating a poster for my media trailer and a magazine cover, combined very effectively with my trailer as they all represent and advertise material and components which are similar or connect with each other to present and convey similar messages which would attract the target audience to the trailer. If these three media products did not combine well or did not even relate to each other, then there would be no point of creating the media products because they do not help me in trying to attract the target audience to my trailer and conveying the message of my trailer successfully. So I am satisfied that my main product and ancillary tasks combine and complement each other effectively to advertise my trailer and attract a large target audience to watch my trailer.
