Hammer Films

Hammer Film Productions is a film production company based in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1934, the company is best known for a series of Gothic "Hammer Horror" films made from the mid-1950s until the 1970s.

During its most successful years, Hammer dominated the horror film market, enjoying worldwide distribution and considerable financial success. This success was due, in part, to distribution partnerships with major United States studios, such as Warner Bros.

We saw inspiration from Hammer Films due to their horror based films, most notably the sequels they produced of ‘Frankenstein’, and ‘Dracula’. These films are the films we seek inspiration from in the making of our film opening due to their low-budget, simple, yet typical horror storyline that builds suspense and satisfies the targeted audience and genre through the thrills they create in their basic but effective use of effects and props.
