Date: Wednesday 7th January

Initial idea

Our intended idea was to create a bullying scene in a creative way, we were hoping to use emotion

mask from the drama studio. The purpose of this idea was to have a location in which our target

market would recognize and relate to. The theme of a school girl getting bullied and the location

being the classroom is obviously cliché and that’s what tempted my group to play on that idea. Using

the mask as faces hopefully creating this bizarre but sinister effect. We also intended to use a lot of

quick cuts as it’s a convention of a music video but also to create a reaction from the audience as

they would link the quick cuts and strange mask to a horror film this could be said to be a form of

intertexuality.

Location: Whitmore high school

The day went really well we were able to take a variety of shots as well as taking advantage of the

location. The school was very spacious and had a very unique structure so we allowed ourselves to

experiment so we could come up with the most creative result. We had a few mask so increased the

amount of background performer to see if that had a bigger impact on the audience. We did this

hopes that our concept would be recognized without fault.

Initial idea

Our initial idea was to have a main character dressed dramatically in white so she would be in

contrast to the dirty and filthy walls of an alley way leading up to Northolt hills. This was for creative

purposes. We had hoped that we could spark a reaction with the audience also using quick cuts to

emphasis this.

Location: Northolt hills

The weather seemed to be against us however we were able to get lots of shots taken. Our original

idea was to just have the artist in a white dress contrasted against this dirty wall however we found

that we could excel our idea and make it even more vivid and clear. We put black make up and

smudged it all over the artist face. Then we re-structured the dress to make it look worn and out of

place. By doing this it become visually more engaging, the artist demand more attention and it fit

very nicely with the concept we tried to convey. The fact that she was dressed the way she was in a

dirty tunnel would definitely provoke a reaction with the audience.

Initial idea

For this scene we wanted to play with the theory of Disjuncture. Disjuncture is a term used to

describe those music videos that 9normally intentionally) seem to work by ignoring the original song

and creating a whole new set of meanings. This is quite a radical technique and used often by

bands/artists who want to assert their difference and originality. By completing taking a U-turn away

from the High school and drama studio location and play more with nature. This concept just relates

to natural emotions running wild and just links to her emotion in which she is presently experiencing

we hoped that the audience would understand the absurd and completing unexplainable location.

Because of weather conditions we were unable to make full use of this location however we did

capture some shots which look to prove useful.

Date Wednesday 1st February

Initial idea

We wanted the artist to make clear to the audience of her emotions. To achieve this we wanted her

to burn a photo of herself but instead of being isolated we wanted her in the middle of a

roundabout. This was merely for visual effects. We wanted to play on ‘the idea of although you are

surrounded by people you are often alone’. Hoping that through this the audience may even briefly

understand the concept and be intrigued. We hoped that we could use a variation of shots but most

of all focus on the close up/ extreme close up as it’s a code and convention. We also wanted to use

close ups/ extreme close ups to let the audience see her emotion while she was burning the photo

taking this concept one step further.

Harrow college drama studio offers a blacked out and isolated environment this was perfect for the

concept in which my group and I are trying to convey. We also had the benefit of using the curtains

and the lights. The use of the spotlight was highly beneficial
