Blue Icypoles• Phil Connell and Debbie Manallack have

attempted to begin to change the music industry on a NEIS grant of $440 each per fortnight. With this the aim is to create, promote and commence a successful and profitable small business as well as support a family, pay their own rent, bills and utilities, food, car expenses, clothes, shoes, school expenses, phone calls, internet and foxtel.

• As well as personal and family expenses, Phil and Debbie are expected to rent an office, pay office bills, advertising and promotional expenses for the businesses, artwork, make posters, business cards, cds, organise and pay for bands to make recordings and get their cds out to stores and radio stations and make music videos too.

• On top of this the fact that in the last six months they have only made about $6,000 is not good enough for their NEIS mentor nor their NEIS coordinator and they are actually now concerned that they may have their main source of income cut off by the end of January 2009 and are also get evicted from their housing commission house.

• Phil and Debbie also have another project in progress where they aim to bring free or very cheap music lessons, subsidise or buy music equipment and promote band skills to people in public housing. They are currently coordination the creation of an incorporated non-for-profit business run on government subsidies and donations for this.

• Phil are Debbie are determined however, not to let this ruin their plans for world domination through ensuring cool music and especially cool rock and roll and cool guitar and bass playing is heard. They are taking a stand once and for all against the crap which is being promoted especially in 2009, not including what’s played on JJJ FM
