The Brief

I am going to be creating a promotion package for a new film, to include a teaser trailer, together with: 

• A film magazine front cover, featuring the film • A poster for the film 

Initial Idea

The Bird Cage

I am using the Romantic genre and the storyline will surround a young couple, and the issues and pressures they face in their relationship and in receiving approval from their parents. One set of parents approves, the other does not. So essentially the film is surrounds the troubles they face trying to be together.

Target Audience

My target audience is female mid-teens onwards 16-35. I feel with a romance is a genre that stereotypically all females of all ages enjoy.

I plan on making my film a bit more dramatic dealing with real life issues, therefore it would not be interesting to a younger child audience. Although it will definitely have elements of strong romance I want to deal with the more turbulent sides of a relationship and the fact that sometimes it doesn’t always work out for the best. This is another reason for the slightly more mature audience as they will be able to relate more.

Inspirational Texts

I have taken Inspiration from well known romantic films such as The Notebook, Dear John, and Titanic. All of these films include elements of both romance and drama,which is evident in their trailers. All also have a bittersweet ending which although I won’t be completing a full movie, is something I would consider having in mind while I made my trailer.

Institution

After doing research I have decided to use New Line Cinema as the institution for my film. The company has became one of the major Hollywood’s major film studios in recent years but also produced movies of my chosen genre that have been hugely successfully. Films such as The Notebook, Valentines Day and The Time Travelers Wife were all hugely popular and well produced.
