CONTROLLING ELECTRICAL FIRE
ELECTRICAL SAFETY
CAUSES OF ELECTRICAL
ACCIDENTSThere are 3 major causes of electrical accidents:
Carelessness, misuse, ignorance
PROCLAMATION NO. 193 (Pres. Benigno Aquino)
- The primary cause of fire is “not faulty electrical wiring but
the ignorance in the use of electrical appliances and
gadgets such as overloading of electrical outlets and the
use of counterfeit electrical products such as circuit
breakers, power strips, extension cords, batteries &
holiday lights that cause fires, explosions, shocks, and
electrocution”
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)
identifies “octopus connections” – several
electrical appliances are connected to 1 outlet,
resulting in power overload and other electrical
faults – as main cause of fires in the home.
Avoid having such connections in your house
