1. Cleat Wiring• This system of wiring comprise of ordinary VIR or PVC insulated wires • Cleat wiring system is a temporary wiring system therefore it is not

suitable for domestic premises. • The use of cleat wiring system is over now a day.• The cleat has a two parts. 1. Base 2. Cap• The cables shall be supported on base • the base is covered with cap and then cap is screwed on the base.• The cleats are available in two-way, three-way and four-way construction.

Page 4: Wiring System and Working Principle of Fluorescence Tube

• The distance between two cleats is kept approximately 0.5 meter • The cables are entered in junction box through holes• The life period of this wiring is 1. Minimum 3 months 2. maximum 10 to 15 years.

ADVANTAGES :

• cheap wiring system.• Easy installation.• Most suitable for temporary use• Materail can be retrieved for reuse.• Skilled man power not required.• Flexibility provided for inspection & expansion

Page 5: Wiring System and Working Principle of Fluorescence Tube

Disadvantages :• Appearance is not so good.• Higher risk of mechanical injury.• Open system of wiring required regular cleaning.• It is not reliable and lasting• Only used on low temperature

2. BATTEN WIRING• In this system, wires sheathead in tough rubber are used which are quite

flexible• They are clipped on wooden battens with brass clips.• Fixed on the walls by flat hard screws.• These are moistured and chemical proof cables.• Brass pins spaced at an interval of 10cm for horizontal runs and 15cm for

vertical runs.

CTS / TRS WIRING :

• They are suitable for damp climate• Not suitable for outdoor use• TRS wiring is suitable for lighting in low volatge installations.

Advantages :

• Wiring installation is simple and easy• Cheap as compared to other electrical wiring systems• Paraphrase is good and beautiful• Repairing is easy• Low risk of short circuit

Disadavantages :

• Danger of mechanical injury.• Danger of fire hazard• Skilled workman are required• Should not be exposed to direct sunlight.• Only suitable below then 250V• Need more cables and wires.

FLUORESCENT TUBE WORKING :

COMPONENTS WE USE :Electrical components for single tube light installation we use are;1. CHOKE (Electromagnetic ballest)2. STARTER (Small neon lamp)3. SWITCH &WIRES.• It is not connected in the main supply directly.• It operates at 230V

INSTALLATION• From the junction box the neutral wire is not taken out to the switch

board• It is taken out from the junction box and carried out to the port 2 of the

tube light• The live wire or phase is taken from the junction box to the switch board.

Page 9: Wiring System and Working Principle of Fluorescence Tube

• The live wire is connected to the one terminal of the switch.• One terminal of the choke or ballest is connected to port 1.• Other terminal is connected to the pin1 of terminal 1• One end of a starter is connected to pin 2 of terminal 1• Another end of starter is connected to to the pin 2 of terminal 2.
