Null-Type Method:

A null-type device attempts to maintain deflection at zero by suitable application of a known effect opposing the generated by the measured quantity. ... The measured quantity produced some physical effects that engenders a similar but opposing effect in some part of the instrument.

Deflection-type Method:

The Measured quantity produced some physical effects that engenders a similar but opposing effects in some part of the instrument. The opposing Effect increases until a balanced is achieved, At which point Deflection Is measured.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Null-Type Method

Advantages

They are Very much Accurate. They Are readily used for measuring.

Disadvantages

Due to addition Of Different weights involved this method become little difficult.

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Deflection-Type Method

Advantages

Due to their convenient use these instrument are readily used for calibration .

Disadvantages

They Are less accurate.
