What’s Gloveone• Smart gloves dubbed Glove one

will enable users to feel sensations when interacting with virtual objects. The brainchild of Spain-based NeuroDigital Technologies, Glove one aims to give VR users a more immersive experience and will enable them to "feel" what they see.

Glove one• Glove one enables users to feel and touch any virtual object that they

can see on the screen or in their VR headsets.

• If a virtual apple is shown on the screen, with Glove one, you will be able to feel its shape or weight, sense all of its physical features, and even smash it!

Working• The gloves have several sensors built in, which can be found near the

thumb, index, and middle fingers, as well as the palm.

• These sensors have the ability to sense each other so that the wearer can perceive what it is like to grasp a VR object such as a book or a pen.

Working – Cont’d• They do it by translating touch sensations into vibrations.

• There are 10 actuators distributed along the palm and fingertips of Glove one, which vibrate independently at different frequencies and intensities, reproducing accurate touch sensations.

Capabilities• The capabilities are to feel the weight of objects, differentiate

textures, feel the sound waves, caress, alerts like feel a warning about dangerous sensations like fire, smart controller, etc.

accelerometers, and detects changes in rotational attributes like pitch, roll and yaw using one or more gyroscopes.

• And some also include a magnetometer, mostly to assist calibration against orientation drift.

• Inertial navigation systems contain IMUs which have angular and linear accelerometers (for changes in position); some IMUs include a gyroscopic element (for maintaining an absolute angular reference).

• Angular accelerometers measure how the vehicle is rotating in space. Generally, there is at least one sensor for each of the three axes: pitch (nose up and down), yaw (nose left and right) and roll (clockwise or counter-clockwise from the cockpit).

IMU Sensor• Linear accelerometers measure non-

gravitational accelerations of the vehicle. Since it can move in three axes (up & down, left & right, forward & back), there is a linear accelerometer for each axis.

• A computer continually calculates the vehicle's current position. First, for each of the six degrees of freedom (x,y,z and θx, θy and θz), it integrates over time the sensed acceleration, together with an estimate of gravity, to calculate the current velocity. Then it integrates the velocity to calculate the current position.

IMU Sensor• Inertial guidance is difficult without computers.

The desire to use inertial guidance in the Minuteman missile and Project Apollo drove early attempts to miniaturize computers.

• Inertial guidance systems are now usually combined with satellite navigation systems through a digital filtering system. The inertial system provides short term data, while the satellite system corrects accumulated errors of the inertial system.

• An inertial guidance system that will operate near the surface of the earth must incorporate Schuler tuning so that its platform will continue pointing towards the center of the earth as a vehicle moves from place to place.
