For higher speeds and multiple communication peripherals the DUEis (the top end of the Arduino family) is supported, this requires Jumpers to be set for 3.3V operation:

I2C slaves include the 3 AXIS motor driver for 5A DC or 3A Steppers speed and position control protocols supported over I2c with ABSI2C4988n
This whole I/O assembly can act as remote I/O for Allen Bradley or Siemens S-7 1200,1500 or other PLC processors.
