BLUETOOTH• Connectivity • Tool used to communicate with other devices
within a specified range• BLUETOOTH RADIO – Short distance, low
power radio operating in the UNLICENCED SPECTRUM of 2.4 GHz
• Capable of connecting 8 devices at a time• The group of 8 devices is called as PICONETS
WHY BLUETOOTH?
• OVER RADAR:
Time - Radar can take up to 2 seconds to lock on
Radar has wide beam spread (50 ft diameter over 200 ft. range)
Cannot track if deceleration is greater than one mph/second

BLUETOOTH
• The road accidents can be avoided if there is a mechanism to alert the drivers
• This can be done by monitoring the distance between near by cars
• Alert the driver whenever the distance becomes too short
• Bluetooth technology serves this process
OPERATION
• To communicate with bluetooth standard the equipment must be within 100 m (at 10 db)
• Any car comes close bluetooth device sends warning signal to the car
• Based on the control signal
Reduces the speedOvertake the nearby car
AUTOMATIC BRAKE SYSTEM
• The manipulated signal is given to the braking system

ONE TOUCH OVERTAKING SYSTEM
• Red car want to overtake the blue car
• Sends control signal via bluetooth to the blue car
• After the acknowledgement from the blue car red car can overtake without any collision
VIDEO BASED MONITORING
• Digital video camera is mounted in front part of the car
• The captured video is transmitted via bluetooth to the trailing car
• Driver of the trailing car will take wise action
EYE BLINK DETECTOR
• A new technology to prevent accident• Mostly effective in night driving• Driver’s drowsiness is recognized as an
important factor
EYE BLINK DETECTOR• Involves measure of eye blink using IR
sensor• IR transmitter – transmits the IR rays in our
eye
• IR receiver – receives the reflected IR from our eye
• Output is given to alarm circuit

FUTURE SCOPE OF EYE BLINK DETECTOR
• Eye blink detector in combination with bluetooth technology can alert nearby cars
• Alert can be given to the driver via fake call• Instead of alarm, automatic braking system
can be used to reduce the speed of the car• Incase of transport vehicles, alert can be
directly sent to their owners
ALCOHOL DETECTOR
• Major reason for road accidents is DRUNK AND DRIVE
• For the safety of the people seating inside
OPERATION
• Install the sensor inside the car• Produces an signal if the driver is detected as
drunk• This signal output is sent to the
microcontroller through the comparator IC• Buzzer is turned on• Ignition is deactivated
FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
• We can implement GSM technology to inform the relatives or owners of the vehicle about the alcohol consumption
• We can implement GPS technology to find out the location of the vehicle
• In worst case, near by cars can alerted
CONCLUSION
“Preventable accidents, if not prevented due to our negligence, is nothing short of murder”
• Even though many technologies are there the alertness is up to the individual
• Accidents can only be prevented by not violating the rules
• Use these technologies to get benefited
• Thus we conclude that we engineers must contribute ourselves to invent new technologies in order to prevent accidents.
