Lets first know , what is ?

What is Printing ?3D PRINTING
It is a form of Additive Manufacturing Process of joining materials to make an object from 3D model Data; layer-by-layer process
ManufacturingAdditive Subtractive
Subtractive Manufacturing
Subtractive manufacturing is a process by which 3D objects are constructed by successively cutting material away from a solid block of material. Subtractive manufacturing can be done by manually cutting the material but is most typically done with a CNC Machine.
What is 3D Printing? Digital Fabrication
It refers to various processes used to synthesize a three-dimensional object. In 3D printing, successive layers of material are formed under computer control to create an object. These objects can be of almost any shape or geometry, and are produced from a 3D model or other electronic data source. A 3D printer is a type of industrial robot
History Early Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment and materials were developed in the 1980s.In 1981, Hideo Kodama of Nagoya Municipal Industrial Research Institute invented two AM fabricating methods of a three-dimensional plastic model with photo-hardening polymer, where the UV exposure area is controlled by a mask pattern or the scanning fiber transmit.Hideo defined the process as a "system for generating three-dimensional objects by creating a cross-sectional pattern of the object to be formed"

SLS (Selective Laser Sintering)FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling)SLA (Sterolithography)DLP (Digital Light Processing)
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) is a technique that uses laser as power source to form solid 3D objects
As was stated previously, 3D systems Inc. developed stereolithography, which in some way is very similar to Selective Laser Sintering. The main difference between SLS and SLA is that it uses powdered material in the vat instead of liquid resin as stereolithography does.
Working of Selective Laser Sintering
Fused Deposition Modeling
Fused deposition modelling(FDM) is anadditive manufacturing technology commonly used for modeling, prototyping, and production applications. It is one of the techniques used for3D printing.
FDM works on an "additive" principle by laying down material in layers; a plastic filament or metal wire is unwound from a coil and supplies material to produce a part.
The technology was developed byS. Scott Crumpin the late 1980s and was commercialized in 1990.
Working of FDMA plastic filament or metal wire is unwound from a coil and supplies material to anextrusion nozzlewhich can turn the flow on and off.
SterolithographyStereolithography(SL also known asOptical Fabrication,Photo-Solidification,Solid Free-Form Fabrication) is a form ofadditive manufacturingtechnology used for creatingmodels, prototypes, patterns, and production parts in a layer by layer fashion usingphotopolymerization, a process by which light causes chains of molecules to link together, formingpolymersPhotopolymerizationreactions are chain-growth polymerizations which are initiated by the absorption of visible or ultraviolet light
Working of Sterolithography
by focusing an ultraviolet (UV) laser on to a vat ofphotopolymerresinBecause photopolymers are photosensitive under ultraviolet light, the resin is solidified and forms a single layer of the desired 3D object

Digital Light Processing (DLP)
similar to stereolithography
It uses digitalmicro mirrors laid out on asemiconductor chip
For 3D printing DLP as well as SLA works with photopolymers
