Objectives Activities Skills / Cpts/ NC ref ResourcesAll Must LearnLearn how to draw and make tonal studies from first hand evidence (Primary source).Independent thinking/observation skills.Working to a brief.Skills/techniques to make sculptures informed by artist research and experimentation with surrealist ideas.Look at images of artist work and respond making drawings & sculptures.
Draw from observation of 3D objects (primary sources) to inform initial ideas.Create a final piece in MOD ROC based on prior research and development work. The sculpture should relate to the theme of distorted forms and linking the everyday object with unexpected visual combinations. Responding how witty and/or disturbing images are interpreted in the work, of Salvador Dali, Max Ernest and Rene Magritte.Compare and contrast other artist’s sculptural forms.Workshop on sculpture using newspaper and Mod Roc.Painting finished sculptural pieces.

Drawing equipment and still life objects.Additional images of everyday objects.Images by artists on PowerPoint and table resources – Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali and Max Ernest.Pencils, coloured pencils.Newspaper, masking tape, Mod Roc, paints, paint brushes.

Using key words and ‘Writing about art ‘sheet – CONTENT, FORM, and PROCESS AND MOOD.Work outside of school.Learn characteristics of Surrealist artist’ work.Take photographs of objects that are seen as mundane and combine using collage and photomontage.
